The Right Thing
If you aren't learning to do the right thing, you aren't acquiring
wisdom.
The dictionary defines wisdom
as "knowledge and good judgment based on experience." That sounds
good, but what if your experiences aren't so good? What if you
make some bad choices that lead to some negative experiences?
About the only wisdom you can acquire is the wisdom not to do that stuff
again!
Hey, we've all been there, so
we all have to ask ourselves, "How do we get the wisdom to do what's
right? Where do we begin?"
Here's Solomon's advice:
"Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom" (Proverbs 9:10).
That doesn't mean we are afraid of God. As Chuck Swindoll, an
experienced evangelical pastor, says, to fear God means to "take Him
seriously and do what He says." When you do what God says, you do
what's right. And when you do what's right, you are wise.
(Keeping God in the Small Stuff, Bruce and Stan)
Those who are wise will
find a time and a way to do what is right.
Ecclesiastes 8:5
